Creating Irresistible Environments

At TCC, we believe our responsibility is to create irresistible environments which help people Know Christ, Grow in Christ, and Show Christ.

We focus our attention on creating three environments:  Foyer, Living Room, and Kitchen.

FOYER (foi' er, foi ya'): n. an entry

At TCC, our Sunday morning worship services are a "foyer" environment. We want our guests to feel comfortable and come back, so we keep them in mind when crafting our Sunday morning services.

The foyer is the part of your home that serves as the welcome area for guests and new friends.  It's the first step and everything about is is designed to say "Welcome guest!".

The key concepts of a foyer environment are "guests", "open", and "return".  Foyers are designed with guests in mind; in order to succeed in this function they must open (easily accessible); the action we want is that people will return...and move into TCC's next environment.

LIVING ROOM (liv'ing room): a room used for social activities photo

LIVING ROOM (liv'ing room): a room used for social activities

At TCC, this is where you connect with people like yourself. Smaller and more interactive than the foyer environment, these gatherings offer genuine opportunity to begin friendships...just like the living room in your home.

When guests arrive and are welcomed into your homem, you invite them into the living room.  Everyone finds a comfortable place to sit, and the interaction begins.

For a living room environment, think "friends", "targeted", and "connect".  We want strangers to become friends.  This happens best when folks have something in common (targeted).  The hope is that they will connect meaningfully...and move even deeper into TCC's environments.

UPCOMING LIVING ROOM EVENTS:

KITCHEN (kich'en): n. a place for preparation of food photo

KITCHEN (kich'en): n. a place for preparation of food

At TCC, that's the kind of environment we are striving for in our Community Groups. They are the safe place to open your heart, share your life, and ask the tough questions. Small groups are the place where real ministry happens at TCC, and we want to help everyone into the kitchen!

OK, Webster's doesn't help us much!  But think about it--when family comes home, where do you all eventually end up?  In the kitchen.  The savory aroma draws you in and it's where you can really "be yourself" (dirty dishes and all!).

The key concepts for a kitchen environment are "family", "change", and "closed".  When you're welcomed into the kitchen, you know you're family!  When lives connect at the deepest, most real levels, change happens.  But for this sort of life-on-life connection to occur, people have to feel secure...and that requires a predictable (closed) environment.
