Transforming Ordinary People into Extraordinary Followers of Christ

TCCW Spring Retreat 2020

FAITH OVER FEAR: Trust More => Fear Less

Do your worries and fears weigh you down? Wear you out? That’s a burden we weren’t meant to carry!  Join us for our spring retreat as we learn to lay our concerns at the feet of Christ. Come learn how to become a “Fear-Less” woman and find rest for your soul!

We are delighted that Karen Helmer, our guest speaker, will be joining us again this year. Karen has been married to her high school sweetheart, Doug, since 1984.  They have two children: Luke, 32 (married to Kayla), and Emily, 30 (married to Kurt).  They have three grandsons: William (6), Matthew (4), Max (3), and Hazel (1). They are her joy and delight!  Karen & Doug have been in full-time ministry since 2002. They served together at Faith Church (Lafayette, Indiana) leading the Young Couples and Young Families groups, counseling together, and Karen leads the Women’s Ministry.  In 2008 they planted Harvest Bible Chapel in Avon, Indiana. Karen received her Master’s in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s College (Santa Clarita, CA) in 2010. Her passion is to teach women the Word of God so that they encounter the Living Word, Jesus Christ, and learn to increasingly delight in Him.

FortCaswell is this year’s retreat location and is tucked away on the eastern tip of Oak Island, surrounded by peaceful beaches and expansive grounds, providing a relaxing setting for a retreat weekend.  Whether through our speaker’s messages, group discussions, chats on the porch or walks on the beach, you will be blessed during this extended time of fellowship, reflection, renewal and worship.

Retreat Package
Our weekend retreat begins on Friday, March 29, with check-in starting at 5pm. The Friday evening session starts at 7pm (Note: there is no dinner provided on Friday so grab a bite on the way). We will be staying in the Smith Conference Center on the Fort Caswell grounds, overlooking the ocean.  You and your roommate will share a room with 2 double beds, mini-fridge, and a private bath.  If you would like to request a private room (for an additional cost of $35), please enter the word “private” for a roommate when you register and you will be notified as to availability.  We offer a limited number of private rooms and they are available on a first-come first-served basis. All of your meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday are included as well as snacks and beverages throughout the weekend. We’ll check out by noon on Sunday, March 29. All retreat material is included.

Costs & Deadlines for Registration

  • Retreat Fee is $145
  • A $70 non-refundable deposit locks in your registration
  • You must be “paid in full” by Sunday, March 22, to reserve your spot
  • Final day to register is Sunday, March 22* (depending on space availability)

In the past, we’ve had such an overwhelming response to our annual beach retreat, we needed to close registration early* and open a waiting list, so don’t delay.  Invite a friend to join you for a retreat at the beach!  If finances keep you from being able to attend, please ask about our scholarships.  For this or any other questions, please email Marie Cunningham.

Weekend Schedule
Throughout the weekend, there will be four messages from our speaker, followed by small group discussions.  You’ll have free time on Saturday afternoon to relax on the porch, do a craft, check out the fort, or join a group heading into town to shop, hanging out on the beach or some other fun activity. When we wrap up Sunday morning, even though you will be checked out of your room, you are welcome to stay on the grounds for the day.

We’d love your help in making this the best retreat ever!
If you enjoy hospitality, organizing group activities, coming up with craft ideas or greeting our women as they arrive, we’d love for you to be part of the planning team in making this weekend even more special. Our hospitality team plans/tastes/makes/shops for food and arrives early Friday afternoon to set up as well as maintain the spread throughout the weekend. We need organizers for ice-breakers and activities (such as a scavenger hunt, beach volleyball, historical tour of the fort, thrift store shopping…) for our Saturday afternoon free-time. Our craft & chat table is always occupied, so if you have craft ideas, we have a table! And if you’d enjoy welcoming our women and getting them checked-in, our ‘front desk’ has an opening just for you! We welcome your prayers for this event and invite you to be part of our prayer team.  For more details about these serving opportunities, check the box(es) that interest you on the registration form and Marie will contact you with more info so that you can decide where you ‘fit’ best. And thank you for considering…it takes many people sharing their gifts to make this weekend happen.

We are sold out but we have started a wait-list. There are always women who are not able to make it, sometimes at the last minute. When a spot opens up, you will be contacted in the order you registered.  I will most likely need a quick response from you, so please provide the email and phone number to best reach you. Thank you!
