ENOUGH ALREADY! Pursuing Contentment
Living in a culture that continuously holds out the appeal of “bigger, better, faster” makes it difficult, even as followers of Christ, to live a life of contentment. DIScontent easily arises when our desires aren’t met and our plans don’t come true. Join us as, together, we explore this (almost lost) art and seek to gain a fresh perspective on how we get to those “greener pastures” of true, soul-satisfying contentment.
Our speaker, Jane Zempel counts it a treasured blessing to have been married to her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Tom, for 48 yrs before the Lord took him home in 2016. Forty-four of those years were spent in full-time ministry in four different states. Through the years she has been privileged to speak at various couples’ retreats and marriage conferences with her husband and also women’s conferences and retreats. Her current season of life holds the blessing of more time for pursuing her love of reading, some travel, and most of all, savoring added time with their three grown children and nine grandchildren.
FortCaswell is this year’s retreat location and is tucked away on the eastern tip of Oak Island, surrounded by peaceful beaches and expansive grounds, providing a relaxing setting for a retreat weekend. Whether through our speaker’s messages, group discussions, chats on the porch or walks on the beach, you will be blessed during this extended time of fellowship, reflection, renewal and worship.
Our weekend retreat begins on Friday, March 29, with check-in starting at
Costs & Deadlines for Registration
- Retreat Fee is $120
- A $60 non-refundable deposit locks in your registration
- You must be “paid in full” by Sunday, March 24, to reserve your spot
- Final day to register is Sunday, March 24* (depending on space availability)
In the past, we’ve had such an overwhelming response to our annual beach retreat, we needed to close registration early* and open a waiting list, so don’t delay. Invite a friend to join you for a retreat at the beach! If finances keep you from being able to attend, please ask about our scholarships. For this or any other questions, please email Marie Cunningham.
Throughout the weekend, there will be four messages from our speaker, followed by small group discussions. You’ll have free time on Saturday afternoon to relax on the porch, do a craft, check out the fort, or join a group heading into town to shop, hanging out on the beach or some other fun activity. When we wrap up Sunday morning, even though you will be checked out of your room, you are welcome to stay on the grounds for the day.
We’d love your help in making this the best retreat ever!
If you enjoy hospitality, organizing group activities, coming up with craft ideas or greeting our women as they arrive, we’d love for you to be part of the planning team in making this weekend even more special. Our hospitality team plans/tastes/makes/shops for food and arrives early Friday afternoon to set up as well as maintain the spread throughout the weekend. We need organizers for ice-breakers and activities (such as a scavenger hunt, beach volleyball, thrift store shopping…) for our Saturday afternoon free-time. Our craft & chat table is always occupied, so if you have craft ideas, we have a table! And if you’d enjoy welcoming our women and getting them checked-in, our ‘front desk’ has an opening just for you! We welcome your prayers for this event and invite you to be part of our prayer team. For more details about these serving opportunities, check the box(es) that interest you on the registration form and Marie will contact you will more info as to what is involved so that you can decide where you ‘fit’ best.
Even though retreat registration is full, there is still hope… we started a waitlist! We generally have women who are not able to make it, so we will contact you as soon as there is an opening. Click here to get on the waitlist.
