God is the absolute Sovereign over his universe. He created mankind in his image, to manage creation for his glory and our flourishing. Since he is a God of order and not of disorder (1 Corinthians 14:33 & 40), he has established several “spheres” of authority and responsibility—the family, the church, and government—which give us guidance in how to manage God’s world on his behalf. When sin entered the world many distortions and difficulties were injected into this task. Nonetheless the Scriptures give us sufficient wisdom to lead our families, participate in our churches, and function within larger society. This series will explore the concept of living under God’s sovereignty and being salt and light within the spheres of family, church and government.
