Transforming Ordinary People into Extraordinary Followers of Christ

What God Requires: Do Justice, Love Kindness, Walk Humbly: Walk Humbly – June 27, 2021

Today there are multiple, urgent calls for justice, for systemic change—even for revolution!  As Christians, we want to know how to think biblically about these important issues. According to Micah 6:8, God requires that we “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly”.  What do each of these three concepts involve, how can we apply them in our lives and spheres of influence today—and what our communities look like if we did?

TALKING POINTS / WALKING POINTS

View the sermon summary or dig deeper into the message during the sermon, in your personal Bible study, or with your family or Community Group in application-driven discussion.

APPLICATION / CHALLENGE

  • Realize that God cannot be appeased through “Micah 6:6-7” sorts of sacrifices and duties! Instead, humble yourself and come to Christ. His free offer is found in Matthew 11:28-30.
  • Daily remember the Gospel, read your Bible, evaluate your life, and repent when you sin.
  • Humbly walk with God. As you experience God’s love, love others in the same way. As you love others, make sure it expresses true biblical justice.

TAKE ONE STEP

Each week, write down one doable concrete step of obedience, small or large, that you will put into practice this week. (James 1:22: “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.”)
