Do you ever wonder why God blesses people who don’t deserve his blessing? Do you ever envy others? Do you ever experience doubt in your Christian faith? In Psalm 73, we meet a man named Asaph who had these same struggles. Through his experience we learn how to deal with our own doubts.
All of us face trials. These trials often cause us to question God’s goodness and sometimes even his existence. As we study the life of Jesus, we have the opportunity to observe a perfect human being. And his responses often surprise us, as we see in his conversation with a lame man at the pool of Bethesda.
Next Sunday we will examine three aspects of this interaction: the pool, this lame man, and finally the resulting controversy over the Sabbath. From this conversation we will learn much about the nature of salvation.
Jesus has many different facets. In his conversation with Mary and Martha, he proves himself to be the all-powerful Resurrection and the Life by raising their brother Lazarus from the dead. But he also proves to be a tender counselor who ministers to each sister in just the way she needs.
In Jesus’ conversation with the blind beggar, he reveals himself as the Light of the World. But as we will learn, some people are drawn to the light and others flee from it. The question is, “What kind of a person are you?”
How do you become a Christian? In Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus gets right to the point: “You must be born again!” Pastor Doug brings clarity to this seemingly puzzling command.
Many find the book of Ecclisiastes confusing. Pastor Doug clears up the confusion with an overview of this book that he finds fascinating!
