For the person of faith, suffering is a great mystery. How can God be good when good people suffer? The book of Job gives us a perspective on suffering that we find nowhere else. It answers the big question: Will man serve God for nothing? In other words, if God fails to bless, will we fail to serve and believe? Can we really trust God in the midst of what appears to be undeserved suffering?
Do you ever wonder why God blesses people who don’t deserve his blessing? Do you ever envy others? Do you ever experience doubt in your Christian faith? In Psalm 73, we meet a man named Asaph who had these same struggles. Through his experience we learn how to deal with our own doubts.
All of us face trials. These trials often cause us to question God’s goodness and sometimes even his existence. But rather than thinking of these trials as intruders, how can we embrace them as opportunities for character development? In this message we will learn how to grow through trials and not just go through trials.

As we study the life of Jesus, we have the opportunity to observe a perfect human being. And his responses often surprise us, as we see in his conversation with a lame man at the pool of Bethesda.
Next Sunday we will examine three aspects of this interaction: the pool, this lame man, and finally the resulting controversy over the Sabbath. From this conversation we will learn much about the nature of salvation.
