Jesus was the greatest teacher the world has ever known. To convey spiritual truth he often used parables–stories drawn from everyday life in which he revealed the way of the Kingdom of God. In this series we will look at seven selected parables which, when understood and applied, will transform how you think and how you live.
This week we take a look at the resources to equip us with strategies to live pure lives. We’ll examine Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness and see that God’s Word functions in a very practical way to help us handle life’s trials, difficulties, and temptations. We will look at the depth and complexity of evil, Satan’s evil strategies, and how we can defeat these strategies with Scripture.
In the second chapter of Jonah, we find a man at prayer. We see three important components of Jonah’s prayer life:(1) confession, (2) praise, and (3) repentance.
Christianity is sometimes shrouded in mystery. Case in point: What does “God in three persons” mean? We understand “God the Father”. We even understand Jesus, “God the Son”. But what is “God the Spirit”? Sometimes we call him the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we call him the Holy Ghost. But who is he? Who better to clear things up for us than Jesus! Through the Bible, he teaches us who the Holy Spirit is, what he does, and how to receive what the Holy Spirit gives.
Have you faced the potential for evil within you? Do you know what’s in your heart? Do you know what you’re capable of? But more importantly, what are you going to do about the evil in our hearts?
Perfect justice will NOT be achieved in this life. We work TOWARD justice in this life, but we wait on God to TRULY bring justice when he rules the world.
